FAQS - Frequently Asked Questions

No question is a silly question! My client's care journey is important to me. I'd love to hear more about your situation!

Please don't hesitate to reach out in confidence.

Typically, care costs are calculated separately from the base monthly rent. Monthly rent for a resident in assisted living can start anywhere from $3,000 to about $7,000. Care assistance, or a "Level of Care", can start between $200 - $3,500. Rates increase by an average of 5% annually.

Most senior living communities including memory care, accept private pay, long-term care insurance, and veteran aid benefits. Some other financial options include renting or selling their home, using a reverse mortgage (borrowing money based on the equity of your home), and/or accessing any pensions and savings. If these payment options do not apply to your situation, please see RESOURCES below for more information. You may also directly reach out via text or phone to discuss your options further at: (562) 665-9059.

Preserving your relationship with your loved one is the most important thing to keep in mind in this care journey. I will help mediate a healthy conversation about care options between you and your loved one, and educate you on your feasible care options. I will respect the decision of the client and their family, and offer a gentle helping hand in this process.

Medicare is federal health insurance for people 65 or older, some younger people with disabilities, and those with End-Stage Renal Disease. Medicare does not pay for long-term care or cover custodial care offered in an Assisted Living environment. Custodial care includes non-medical care provided to assist people with daily living and may include bathing, dressing, cooking, cleaning, and other necessary functions. Please read more information about Medicare below in RESOURCES.

Navigating the appropriate care options for your loved one can be incredibly stressful and intimidating. No matter the urgency of your situation, rest assured you can rely on Best Life Senior Placement to support you each step of the way. Each California County has an Adult Protective Services (APS) agency to help older adults (60+ years) and dependent adults (age 18-59 who are disabled), when these adults are unable to meet their own needs, or are victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation. County APS agencies investigate reports of abuse of elders and dependent adults who live in private homes, apartments, hotels, hospitals, or who are, or soon will be, experiencing homelessness.

To report abuse, call this number 1-833-401-0832 and when prompted enter your 5-digit zip code to be connected to the Adult Protective Services in your county, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
